Kate Middleton | Somatic Therapist
Welcome!
I’m Kate, Somatic Therapist, Authentic Relating facilitator, mama, former professional freediver, and imperfect human.
I grew up loving nature and people, but sadly, not my body. I avoided vulnerability and intimacy and made sure I looked fine from the outside when really, I was hurting on the inside. I found yoga and meditation at a very young age when life was confusing and painful. It felt like an answer but it also perpetuated the belief that my body (I) was impure and I had to “purify” it. I moved to a tiny island in Indonesia with no motorized vehicles, only horse carts, bikes, and bare feet when I was 19 (my feet are wide and sturdy because of it). Soon after I co-founded a yoga and Freediving (breath-hold diving) school. As Freediver, I set 18 national and won silver at the World Championships.
I stopped competing because my deeper longing was inconvenient but unmistakably honest. So I hung up my fins, closed a 10 year relationship, and left my business and home of over a decade in pursuit of a different kind of depth: Somatics, Authentic Relating, and wilderness-based therapies (oh and a few trips to Burning Man). It was a very rough transition (I don’t recommend changing absolutely everything at once) but I can now say it was all worth it!
See somatics has helped me release the lifelong mistrust I had in myself and my body. It taught me to reclaim my power, pleasure, and purpose from within, not from my accomplishments or relationships. It helps me orient to who I am and what matters most. And ultimately, it helped me grow up and into a fuller version of myself.
This is why I am so passionate about Somatics. I know that we don’t need it because there’s something wrong with us- we need it to remember all that is right, whole, and here, in us.
These days, I live in the high mountains of California with my partner and 2.5 yo daughter (with another on the way!). My life is simpler, more grounded, less exotic, but so much more fulfilling these days.
Professionally speaking:
I’m a Registered Master Somatic Movement Therapist (ISMETA), Senior Somatic Stress Release™ Practitioner and Mentor, Authentic Relating Facilitator, Yoga and Meditation teacher, and adventure athlete. I’ve spent the last 15+ years studying and facilitating the practices that help us come home to ourselves—and I’ve worked with hundreds of clients and students to do just that. I’ve taught at festivals, led international retreats and certification programs, and supported individuals, couples, and communities navigating the very human challenges of being authentic and belonging.
I offer coaching, therapy and supervision for individuals and somatic practitioners. If you are looking for ongoing support and desire a deep and steady relationship with yourself, I’d love to support you.
